Avis de grand Large Les bateaux de James Chedburn fendent les flots de l’imaginaire en route vers un monde merveilleux où le calme de l’océan appelle la tranquillité de l’esprit. Pour pallier les tempêtes, ils survolent les flots avec leurs hélices ou rentrent vite au port.

Est-ce le souvenir brumeux de ce long voyage en mer, qui dans sa petite enfance le mena de Malaisie en Angleterre, qui l’inspire ? Malgré le mal de mer qui le poursuit, James est inspiré par le monde marin. Il nous fait revivre par ses sculptures le temps des grands paquebots qui transportaient tout autour de la Terre des passagers avides d’horizons nouveaux et des mets exotiques. Petits caboteurs et navires, il les sculpte et les baptise au gré de son inspiration et des objets de récupération qui leur donnent une âme. Manivelles, clés à ressort, fée électricité les font tanguer sur des ondes invisibles et des vagues de laiton.

James Chedburn’s boats cut through the waves of imagination, heading toward a wonderful world where the calm of the ocean calls for the tranquillity of the mind. To weather the storms, they skim over the waves with their propellers or quickly return to port. Is it the hazy memory of that long sea voyage which, in his early childhood, took him from Malaysia to England that inspires him? Despite the seasickness that continues to follow him, James is inspired by the maritime world. Through his sculptures, he brings back to life the time of the great ocean liners that carried around the Earth passengers eager for new horizons and exotic delicacies. Small coastal vessels and ships: he sculpts and christens them according to his inspiration and the found objects that give them a soul. Cranks, spring keys and the fairy of electricity make them sway on invisible waves and brass seas.
